Vancouver Island Halibut

The outer banks of Ucluelet and Tofino provide some of the best halibut fishing on the West Coast. Catches in the 30 pound range are relatively common with occassional monsters over the last two years weighing in upwards of 50 pounds!

Late spring and summer fishing provides tremendous numbers and coincides with whale migrations along the coast (consider the free whale watching a potential bonus).

This time period also includes the early chinook runs with lots of catches in the 20 pound range.

Late summer continues to present halibut fishing during the peak times for coho and chinook salmon.
